Poem: Oasis

Oasis

Lips are a waste land
Longing for tender droplets
Of one gentle kiss

  3. Ah, but aren't the frogs merely the desert mirage that keeps us thirsty?

  16. Kunjabi: Thank you, I think. Oasis appears to me as just the right size, though. It seems to have evoked enough to allow people's thoughts to run where they'd wish to. That works for me.

Bothered with political harangue? Marring my imagination with mean thinking? I think not. I am of the belief that a poet/writer has a responsibility to record and speak out on what is occurring in society. To not do so is a dereliction of duty as a writer. The last eight years have been ones of wrongheadedness, misguided leadership, pain, suffering, death, and corruption. I must speak to that or I have failed in my pledge to being a writer.
