Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Eternal the sunshine where spotless the mind
Nothing can injure what nothing can find
Erasing the sorrow; unfulfilling lament
Too much has been given, too much has been spent
Perchance for removal every schism and strain
The depth of the scarring that at once caused such pain
Forgetting the heartbreak, disappointment and loss
Remembrance is sadness we have all come across
So fresh from the suffering what memory designed
Eternal the sunshine where spotless the mind

Footnote: Based on a re-watching of one of my favorite movies, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." The movie finds hope that the heart can overcome what we think we'd wish to forget. This poet is not so sure.

I am not so sure, either. Or maybe hope sometimes requires more imagnination than I can muster. Well done, Scott.
hope is very impotent in the darkness of life.is it that much easy to forget? i think its very difficult to forget.time wound all things but you never forget
love poem
One of my fave poem and movie as well. So many times in my life, all i wanted to do is to erase everything inside my head, and upon seeing the movie I wondered, would I do the same if it was actually possible to do the erasure....?
Who wrote this? I love the first two lines. But i would like to get more info on this poem. I am strongly considering getting it tattooed. So any information would be greatly apreciated.
Thank you dry much for the kind words. I am the author of this, and everything on this site. If you leave a means of communicating via E Mail, I'd be happy to give you any information you'd like.
Typo: Thank you SO much.
Awesome! How do I leave my email without random people seeing it?
Not sure where Anonymous disappeared to, but I have deleted my E Mail address after one week waiting.
"Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless mind" is from an Alexander Pope series of letter to his long lost love.
