Scott, I have been reminded by a rather conservative friend that Bush represents us and that we should be offended by this upside the head little moment. Suddenly I am finding myself asking the unfortunate question, "Does the shoe fit?" Alas, I cannot wear it.
In almost every instance, even Reagan, I would agree. However, Bush so totally shamed the Office of the President and so turned his back on our Constitution, that I feel the respect the presidency merits was turned to the "off position" for these last eight years. Plus, if I were an Iraqi, and I saw my country torn asunder and occupied for no reason, I'd throw a shoe, too. If Bush represents us, then surely he represents all that is worst in us. Given that, each American should "take a shoe" for the disgrace we brought upon ourselves by allowing a fool lead us.

An Iraqi footwear malfunction. That's all, Scott. Nothing to do with imperialism....
Scott,

As I said on another blog about this incident: I wonder if the pair of shoes will end up in the Smithsonian?
Kat
I would go to see that!
