Barack Obama: Re-Asserting American Ideals

"We reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake."

Absolutely.

Our daily paper made the point today that President Obama doesn't leave the political comedians anything to make fun of. Alas, they might have to turn to Biden. Left me with a hollow feeling.

Thats quite a thing for our paper to say, being, as it is, "The Republican." Just goes to show Obama has calmed the waters.

I must admit that I wish Biden would shut up a bit more. So far, Obama has been super and I am very happy. It is early, but many good things have happened already - the abortion policy, Gitmo, etc...,/ I do admit to missing Bush purely from the same perspective as the comedians, as I feel like I have lost a great poetic muse.
